Consultation Meeting with LNCCI on Draft National DMN Structure

On 05 October 2021, Tourism Infrastructure for Inclusive Growth Project (TIIGP 2), Ministry of Information, Culture and Tourism (MICT), supported by Asian Development Bank – ADB organized a consultation meeting with the Lao National Chamber of Commerce and Industry (LNCCI) to discuss about the National Destination Management Network (DMN) structure.

The meeting was chaired by Mr Sounh Manivong, TIIGP 2 Project Director, Ms Darany Phommavongsa, Director General of Tourism Management Department, MICT and Ms Chanthachone Vongsay, LNCCI Vice President.

The meeting agreed on the National DMN Structure that is co-chaired by public and private sectors. The DMN aims to be a consultation platform and collaboration mechanism among the public and private sectors, projects and international organizations in tourism sector. It is an important mechanism for TIIGP 2 to provide financial and technical supports to public and private sectors.

Topics for discussion or scope of the DMN activities cover tourism product development, marketing, management and skills development. Officials from other ministries will be invited to the DMN’s meetings or smaller meeting based on the topics, they are not part of the DMN structure. The National DMN does not overlap with the Laos Tourism Promotion Board which is in the process of drafting the degree.

The National DMN is responsible for developing, implementing and reviewing the progress of Public and Private Sector Action Plan for Destination Management.

In addition, TIIGP 1 / MICT and LNCCI signed an MOU for Lao Visit Laos tourism promotion for 2021
